Improve Sun Damage, Pigmentation, and Redness

IPL, or Intense Pulsed Light, is a light-based treatment designed to improve the appearance of discoloration and redness in the skin. Sometimes called a photofacial, IPL uses pulses of light to target unwanted brown and red pigmentation while leaving the surrounding skin largely unaffected.

IPL may help improve the appearance of:

  • Sun spots and age spots
  • Brown pigmentation
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Redness including rosacea symptoms
  • Small visible blood vessels and capillaries
  • Overall dull or uneven-looking skin

IPL can leave the skin looking brighter, clearer, and more even-toned. A series of treatments is often recommended for optimal results. At Fiore Dermatology, your provider will customize the treatment based on your skin type, concerns, and desired results.

What Can I Expect From IPL?

During treatment, your provider applies the IPL device to the treatment area, delivering controlled pulses of light to target pigmentation and redness. You may feel a brief snapping or warming sensation during the treatment.

After IPL, the treated area may appear temporarily red or warm. Brown spots can also become temporarily darker before gradually fading. Your provider will give you specific instructions for caring for your skin after treatment and protecting it from sun exposure.

Is IPL Right for Me?

Your Fiore Dermatology provider will evaluate your skin and discuss your concerns and goals to determine whether IPL is appropriate for you. Your treatment plan may include a series of treatments depending on the condition of your skin and the results you want to achieve.
