Cosmetic and Medical Dermatology located in San Carlos, CA

Do wrinkles, hair loss, or other unwelcome signs of aging bother you? If you'd like to look younger using natural methods, without surgery or downtime, the providers at Fiore Dermatology in San Carlos, California, can help. Cosmetic and medical dermatology specialists use platelet-rich plasma (PRP) from your blood to stimulate new cell generation for your skin and hair regrowth if you have hair loss. Call the office to learn more today.

What is platelet-rich plasma (PRP)?

PRP contains high concentrations of platelets and growth factors from your blood. Your provider takes a small sample of your blood and spins it in a centrifuge to isolate the platelet-rich plasma. Next, they apply it to your skin or scalp during microneedling. They could also inject it into targeted soft tissues to help you look younger.

Microneedling is a minimally invasive anti-aging treatment that uses a cutting-edge device to make tiny tears in aging skin or your scalp to speed up new cell growth.

What are the benefits of PRP?

The benefits associated with PRP treatments include:

  • Skin tightening
  • Reduced pore sizes
  • Hair regrowth
  • Brighter, younger-looking skin
  • Fewer lines and wrinkles
  • Reduced acne scarring

There’s no pain or downtime associated with PRP treatments, and the results are often dramatic.

Fiore Dermatology offers Pro-Nox™ (nitrous oxide and oxygen gas that you administer yourself by breathing it in) to reduce pain and anxiety during PRP procedures and make your experience comfortable.

Is PRP right for me?

If you have thinning hair or signs of aging that make you feel self-conscious, you can benefit from PRP or other anti-aging treatments available at Fiore Dermatology. Your provider examines your skin and hair, reviews your medical history, and discusses your desired results before tailoring a treatment plan.

A blood test helps detect hormone imbalances or nutritional deficiencies, which are common causes of thinning hair.

What happens during PRP treatments?

During PRP treatments at Fiore Dermatology, you rest on a comfortable chair and administer Pro-Nox yourself, if you’d like, to help you feel more relaxed. Your provider draws a blood sample from a vein in your arm, extracts high concentrations of PRP from it, and applies PRP to your skin or scalp with microneedling. Or they inject PRP directly underneath targeted tissues.

Treated skin may be tender, red, or swollen after PRP with microneedling or PRP injections, but these side effects are short-lived.

In addition to PRP treatments for hair loss, you might also use oral and topical supplements to maximize regrowth.

Over time, cells regenerate, and you can expect smoother, younger-looking skin or a thicker head of hair. Repeat PRP treatments offer the most effective results.
